NEW HAVEN, CT: Davinder Singh, daughter of Dr.Balwant and Mohinder K. Singh of Pascagoula, graduated in May 1992, from Yale University.

Davinder graduated as valedictorian from Pascagoula High School in 1988 before attending Yale University. She received her bachelor’s degree with a major in neurobiology, and completed her senior thesis, with distinction.

During her four years at Yale, Davinder conducted laboratory research in biochemistry with a professor in the Yale chemistry department, and later conducted clinical research with Parkinson’s disease patients in the neurology department of the Yale University School of medicine. She also volunteered in the surgical ward of the Yale-New Haven Hospital,

 In addition to her research and medical activities, Davinder tutored a New Haven public high school student for three years through the Yale Youth Together Program, in which gifted New Haven students are matched with Yale students. Her other activities were writer for the Yale Scientific magazine, counselor for Yale Fresh person Conference (an orientation program), member of the Yale Political Union, member of St Anthony Hall and The Elizabethan Club of Yale University (both literary societies), and participant in intramural volleyball, women’s and coed soccer, ultimate Frisbee, and women’s cross country, in which she finished in first place. Davinder was selected for a two week extreme ship in neurological surgery at the University of Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles in March 1991. This summer, Davinder is Studying at the Goethe-Institute in Munich, Germany for two months on a full fellowship from the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (German Academic Exchange Program).

 Davinder will begin her medical studies at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University in New York City this fall. She plans to specialize in a field in the neurosciences, and then work at a university affiliated hospital, where she will practice medicine and conduct research.
