FAIRFAX STATION, VA: Professor Darshan Singh, former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has been on tour of North America for the last few months. Upon concluding his current tour shortly, he plans to spend a few days in England before returning to India.
Accepting a request from Sikh Foundation of Virginia (SFV), he traveled to the Washington area
to spend a few weeks on the east coast In the Washington Metro Politian area he performed inspiring and uplifting Gurbani Kirtan and enlightened the Sangat with thought provoking themes on Sikhism taken from Sri Guna Granth Sahib and to implement and practice Guru’s teachings in our daily life. During his dis courses, Professor Darshan Singh collaborated on the meaning of Sikh, Singh, Khalsa, and bani and bana He categorically pointed out that in creating Khalsa Sri Guna Gobind Singh eliminated all differences in society and emphasized that we are Gurus Sikhs and must act according to our Gurus teachings.
According to him, Sikhs today must communicate with and educate those who label Sikhs as “terrorists”. Through effective communication Sikhs can influence the world’s opinion and earn our rightful reputation as peace loving people. He was invited by the Sangat in Cleveland. Ohio Pittsburgh, Raleigh, NC; Balti more, Maryland; and New York. In addition to regular Kirtan Darbars in the Gurdwaras, Professor Darshan Singh was requested by individual members of the Sangat to conduct Kirtan and katha at their homes.
