LOS ANGELES: Dan Burton the Congressman from Indiana was honored here in Sikh Gurdwara located on Lankersheim Blvd North Hollywood. Sikhs from all over L.A. came to listen to him although a very short notice was given. He said as a matter of principle of human freedom he fights for the Sikhs and Muslims from Kashmir. Massacre rape unlawful detention murder under fake encounters has become in fact a matter of routine. He argued that hard earned taxpayer money should not be given to a country where simple rights to breathe free are denied.
Kirtan Singh from Guru Ramdass Ashram raised the question about wearing of helmet by motorcyclist law in California. He assured the Congregation he would take up the matter at Federal level and Shall talk to governor Wilson of California.
He suggested to Sikhs the problems relating to Sikhs should be written to him and to other Congressman as well “Call the senators write them contact them.
Call the newspaper T.V. and media and let them know what is happening to you. Ultimately you and the truth will prevail.
He appreciated the lobbying of Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh who is doing a good job by contacting personally the Senators and Congressmen.
Mr. JS. Tung special efforts in the Riverside county area to collect money for Mr. Burton. Amarjit Dhillon as usual provided limo service. Dr. Sraand Mr. T.S. Suri briefed the Sangat about his activities. Gusham Not Malkiat Sidhu Surinder Sidhu Darabji Maan was key figures in arranging the function. A purse of $5000.00 was presented to Mr. Burton.
