LUDHIANA; The Ludhiana police has booked the president of the Indian Minorities and Dalit Front, Sewa Singh Sekhwan, under the charge of sedition for delivering an “anti-national” speech at the Panthic rally at Alamgir gurdwara on Sunday which, however, was soon thwarted.

He was arrested when he was delivering his speech inside Alamgir gurdwara. He has been charged with preaching violence, appealing to panchayats to resign and in their place constitute Khalsa panchayats and asserting that the Hindus would not be allowed to stay on in Punjab.

On the other hand, the general secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Mann), Sucha Singh Chhotepur, was arrested by Ropar police under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA).

Chhotepur was produced in a local court along with the party president, Simranjit Singh Mann and a few others as they had been arrested three days ago under sections 107/151 of the IPC. While all were released under this case, a police official from Ropar produced Chhotepur warrant and arrested him.

All others arrested in connection with Sundays rally have been freed, including the SGPC president. However, the SAD (B) chief Parkash Singh Badal is still in judicial custody till Tuesday,
