NEW DELHI: The Dalai Lama, has offered to intervene in the Ramjanam bhoomi Babn Masjid controversy to seek a “peaceful solution” In an interview to Radio Nether.
lands International, the Dalai Lama said that “with openness of mind and thinking in a wider perspective there is always a possibility to come together.” “Hindus and Muslims both believe in goads the erector. So there should not be a big, obstacle” said the Tibetan leader.
According to Dalai Lama, “the greatness of India is that so many different religions and traditions harmoniously live together in one country. “Religion is after all an individual business. Secularism is very much alive. The Muslims did not come recently to India, they have been here for centuries and Hindus and Muslims have been living peacefully side by side.”
Asked what kind of a solution he envisaged, the Tibetan leader said that he would sit and meditate in silence with Hindus and Muslims together and then discuss the issue with both communities. “I have experienced myself that very profound mutual respect and understanding can be developed between different religions. Why can’t Muslims and Hindus not share the shrine in Ayodhya? Hindus and Muslims can worship there on alternating days.”
The Dalai Lama said that he would go to Ayodhya if he was invited. “I have always had the desire to contribute, to do something as a human being who has spent 30 years his country and as a gesture of gratitude of India which has been very helpful to us.”
