NEW DELHI: The Delhi unit of Akali Dal (Mann) Saturday urged government to hold talks with militants to solve the Punjab problem.
Addressing its first conference after the formation of the city unity Party, president of the unit Mohinder Singh said the government should set no preconditions for holding the talks.
He said that most of the Sikhs rallying around Simranjit Singh Mann had of late joined the mainstream but the police machinery was “driving” them away.
In a statement circulated at the Press conference, the Delhi unit party demanded setting up of an enquiry commission by a sitting Supreme Court judge to look into the 1984 riots, fake encounters, tortures and wrongful confinement.
