CHANDIGARH: In the current war of attrition between the Akali factions, five leaders of the Akali Dal (Mann) on Oct.2, in a joint statement castigated the factor, led by Parkash Singh Badal for breaking Panthic unity and ploughing a lonely tomorrow by activating support for the proposed Delhi rally at October 12 which is aimed at protesting against confirmation of the death sentence on Gen A.S.Vaidy’s assassin’s.
In a lengthy statement, these activists have urged Parkash Singh to disband his party and work for unity among Panthic organizations as desired by the Sikhs panth which is sick of and fed up with internal bickering among the so-called traditional leaders.
The signatories are Ram Singh, party general secretary, Iqbal Singh, Tiwana deputy secretary Mohinder Singh president of the Delhi State Akali Dal Interpret Singh Sandhu, observer, Rajasthan Akali Dal, and Jagjit Singh. They have said that the entire Sikh community was keen on Akalis unity.
The entire statement is an attack on Parkash Singh who has been accused of sabotaging Panthic unity and calls for a closer look at which central agencies are pressurizing Parkash Singh to take a separate stand despite joint actions suggested from time to time. The statement goes on to list occasions when Parkash Singh backed out on the proposals put forward by S.S.Mann.
The statement gives full support and appreciates those activists of the Panthic Ekta Committees who have, of late, forced the Akali Dal (B) not to hold conferences for mobilizing people for the Boat Club rally at Delhi, Referring to the clash at Chahal Amritsar on Thursday, they said such incidents were in shameful and did not behave Akalis. The Parkash Singh and has party of being a prestige of the Delhi “sarkar.”
