LONDON: Jan 3, Reuter: A Czechoslovak diplomat who disappeared from his embassy in New Delhi two weeks ago has arrived in London and been given Political asylum, the foreign office said on Tuesday.

“Viastimil Ludvick made his way to Britain in the last few days and on his arrival applied for Political asylum. That request was granted,” a spokesman said.

He declined to give details of how or when Ludvik, a first secretary at Czechoslovakia’s embassy in India, arrived in Britain or where he was now staying.

Czechoslovakia said on Thursday it believed Ludvik, who had not been seen since he left the embassy on December 17, might have been abducted.

His car was found two days after his disappearance outside a new Delhi Hotel.
