JAMMU: Curfew was imposed in Jammu city on Monday night following a bomb explosion and incidents of violence that injured nearly 30 persons.

A bomb explosion at nine p.m. (IST): near the famous Raghunath temple here left 18 persons injured and several shops and vehicles damaged police said.

Thousands of panthic-stricken devotees who were inside the temple on the occasion of Janamashtami rushed helter skelter and nearly 12 people were injured in the following stampede.

Later irate mobs fanned out in different areas setting ablaze vehicles and damaging shops and government property.

The Jammu and Kashmir governor Girish Chander Saxena went to the police control room and reviewed the law and order situation with senior police and civil officers.
