JAMMU(PTI): An indefinite curfew has been imposed in the Bhaderwah town of Doda district in north Indian border state of Jammu and Kashmir following communal tension and clashes Oct.13 between two groups of people, while 10 hours relaxation in curfew was given in the adjoining town of Kishtwar.
An official spokesman said the curfew in Bhaderwah town was imposed in the wake of mounting tension following a bandh call given by the Hindu community in protest against the killing of two brothers by the militants at Kishtwar on Sunday and another bandh call given by Muslims against alleged excesses by the security forces in Doda district. Senior officers along with additional troops have reached Bhaderwah town for an on the spot study of the situation, which though officially stated to be under control, was tense,
The security force were keeping a close watch on the situation and have intensified patrolling along sensitive points and vital installations, the spokesman said.
