So far, the government has transferred K Rajendra Kumar, SSP of Srinagar, in response to the policemen’s agitation, However, their other demands like reinstatement Of about 500 dismissed policemen and recognition of the police union have been flatly rejected by the authorities.
Rajendra Kumar is likely to be posted 48 SSP (Crime) in Jammu and his successor is yet to be found.
The paramilitary forces have blocked all entries into Srinagar and are checking all incoming vehicles to identify policemen on their way to joining their agitating colleagues.
Rajesh Pilot, Minister of State for Internal Security, flew in here Tuesday and immediately drove to Raj Bhavan. He discussed the situation with the Governor and senior state officials.
Meanwhile, policemen at the Srinagar Police Lines have been disarmed, The BSF has taken control of the area.
