MEQUON WI: It is announced with great pleasure and pride for the Sikhs and the Punjabi community of the United States of America that a Punjabi language and culture course was introduced in the Mequon Thiensville school district of Wisconsin. In addition to instruction in the Punjabi language the course included information about the various states religions foods customs songs and dances of India. Students were very gracious and enthusiastic. The summer course was taught by Lakh want Singh Komal a teacher with 20 years of experience. Mr. Komal who lives in the Chicago area drove over 100 miles each way to teach the course. His excellent background and knowledge of Punjabi language and culture were invaluable to the success of this program. Class was attended by several Punjabi and American children as well as several interested adults.

Special thanks must be given to Mr. Darshan Singh Dhaliwal a successful Mequon businessman who first asked the school district to offer the class arranged for the instructor and provided guest speakers to enrich the class. Special thanks are also given to the Dhaliwal family for providing authentic Indian food for the class and for providing hospitality to various visitors.
