SONEPAT: The Haryana government has deployed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in sensitive areas of Sonepat in view of the anti-reservation agitation and the unrest among the policemen.
According to police sources, the CRPF jawans are guarding the arms and ammunition store of the Sonepat police line seven as members of Haryana Police union held a meeting to protest against the dismissal of the sangathan chief, Dilawar Singh and others.
The meeting of union leaders urged the state govt to immediately withdraw the criminal cases against their leaders and release them unconditionally.
Addressing a news conference at Hisar the Haryana Janata Dal president, Verendar Singh criticized the govt for deploying the CRPF to deal with the police agitation. “It is not a right step to call CRPF to suppress the police agitation”, he said.
He called upon the State Government to convince an all-party meeting to discuss the situation arising out of the police agitation. The district unit of the Samajwadi Janata Party on Friday condemned what it called the repression of policemen by the Bhajan Lal govt and demanded immediate release of the arrested leaders of the police union.
A resolution in this regard was adopted a 4 meeting of party workers held here on Friday under the president ship of Kapil Dev Shastri, a former MP.
The meeting also adopted a resolution opposing the formation of the Police Sangthan but blamed the Chief Minister for its formation. It also urged the govt t accept the genuine demands of the police personnel.
The meeting also demanded a probe into the recruitment of teachers by the Education Departments lakhs of rupees, it allege had exchanged hands.
The meeting decided to support hones and dedicated candidates in the district.
The Haryana State Electricity Boar Workers Union organized a rally here on Friday evening in support of the demand of policemen in the state.
PANIPAT: Raghbir Singh Chaudhari secretary of the Haryana unit of the CP has strongly condemned the arrest of leaders of the Police union. Justifying the agitation by policemen he said every section of society had the right to raise their voice in support of their demands in democracy.
