HOSHIARPUR: The Hoshiarpur police arrested a gang of ‘four dacoits and extortionists in February 1991. The police invited the media persons to have a look at the members of the gang namely Ashok Kumar alias Old Deep Kumar Ashok Kumar alias Puppi and Balbir alf residents of Bhagat Nagar colony of Hoshiarpur The media persons were also shown the articles recovered from the gang members. It made quite an impressive show-three Bajaj scooters five color television sets one video camera half a dozen V.C.R:s one generator and a few gold ornaments
Almost every known known journalist in town was invited on April 24 to be informed that the police had registered eight first information reports (Nos 31 35 36 41 42 43 44 and 46) against the culprits. They were later sent to jail.
But after a few days Shoki and Deep Kumar came out of jail on bail In July Should and Deep Kumar were recruited as Special Police Officer. Their batch are 245 and 246 respectively.
These SPO’s are now pride of the Indian State and are assigned to fight so called terrorism of Sikh in Punjab.
