BANGALORE: On a day of high drama in the Veerappa Moily ministry the Chief Minister last week reversed within hours his earlier decision to accept and forward the resignations of Deputy Chief Minister S.M. Krishna and seven other ministers to the Governor following a call from Congress president and Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao

Moily told Indian Express that he had to request Governor Khurshid Alam Khan 10 keep the resignations letters in abeyance as desired by the Party President. Soon after forwarding the resignations letters to Governor he had a telephone talks with Rao On the political situation arising our heightened dissident activities and the resignation issue. Rao had asked him 10 Keep the resignations pending he added.

When all eyes were at Raj Bhavan for the notification accepting the resignations of the ministers as per the recommendations of the Chief Minister there was a surprise message from Moilys office that the resignations have been kept in abeyance.

Obviously Moily had not sought the permission of Rao or the high command before accepting the resignations and forwarding them to the Governor.

Earlier when reporters asked Moily whether he had the green signal from the party high command to take action On the resignations Moily said: You do not worry about that. He said he did consult Union Home Minister Chavan on the resignations issue but refused to divulge the details. Thar is strictly between me and Chavan he said.

Moily had said: I have done my duty. I have returned the resignation letters to the Governor with my recommendation now it is for the Governor to take a decision.
