NEWDELHI: Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet has criticized the Government for its failure to win over and bring back Kashmiri people to the national mainstream by assuring them that their identity would be protected. In an article published in the party’s organ The People’s Democracy, Surjeet said a favorable atmosphere had been created in Kashmir Valley as the people were disenchanted with the extremists.
Shabir Shah, who had been advocating accession of Kashmir with Pakistan, after his release from jail denounced the pro-Pakistan JamiatcIslami and demanded separation of ion from politics, the JKLF leader received enormous response from the people, Surjeet said.
