BOMBAY, INDIA: A woman councilor who Ied a frenzied mob of Hindus was among 25 people reported killed Jan.12 as Hindus and Muslims fought with knives, clubs and firebombs for the seventh Straight day.
Violence spread to suburban areas. About 200 people now have been killed in the latest fighting.
Police gunfire killed Shantadai Ramesh Bana, a member of a municipal council in central Bombay, and another rioter in one mob, police said.
