The editorial last week, “‘State Repression Never Succeeds” erroneously said, “Lala Lajpat Rai who suffered at the hands of the British Indian Police and whose death was avenged by a Sikh, Bhagat Singh years later in England.” The words “In England” were meant to be deleted but were not due to an oversight, the error is regretted.
Due to poor transmission from Lahore a front page story said that Ravinder Singh and Harminder Singh were given a death sentence and a life sentence by the Lahore High Court in the 1984 hijacking case. The sentence has been passed earlier. They are now being sought to be extradited to India, Their lawyer, to block the extradition proceedings has now filed an appeal in the court that they are Pakistani citizens since the constitution of Pakistan provides dual citizenship to the Kashmiris. We regret the error.
