LUDHIANA: A head constable and two constables posted at Haibowal police post here were placed under suspension and a criminal case registered against them for allegedly raping 4 mar tied woman Veena (22).
According to information made available by police, the woman and her husband, Jaggu, were taken into custody by police in a case of theft. While Jaggu was lodged in the lock-up for the night his wife was asked to sleep in the Open courtyard of the police post where head constable Jagpal Singh, Sukhyinder Singh and Sajjan Singh (both constables) criminally assaulted her. ‘This couple was let off the next day, when Veena narrated to her family and neighbors as to what post, a deputation of the residents of the area met Senor Superintendent of Police Hardip Singh Dhillon who got the victim Medically examined and ordered registration of a case against the three policemen. In charge of the Haiboval police post Dharm Pal Singh has also been shifted.
