CHANDIGARH: The Punjab govt has seized 50000 copies of Ajit a Punjabi daily of Jalandhar. The two vehicles a bus and a van carrying the papers were impounded by the police between Beas and Rayya in Amritsar district.

According to the manager of Ajit the papers were seized and kept at the Beas police station. The two vehicles were released later after newspapers officials rushed to Beas. The police did not show any written order. They said they had received verbal orders from ‘above’.
