CHANDIGARH: Work in the Punjab secretariat was paralyzed for more than three hours as the employees staged a dharna outside the chief secretary’s room demanding the suspension of a police constable who allegedly tried to slap the deputy secretary finance Aug.2 The dharna was lifted after the chief secretary promised to look into the matter. The trouble arose when the deputy secretary finance Bakhshish Singh Pun refused to show his identity card to the constable at the gate as he was not in uniform.
