CHANDIGARH: S.G.P.C. chief Gurcharan Singh Tohras statement in favor of poll boycott has created a controversy in a section of Sikhs.

The Mann Akali Dal has stepped up attacks on the S.G.P.C. chief ever since his statement not on ground of his boycott proposal but on the issue of his acceptance of $.G.P.C. post despite his firm statement at Anandpur Saheb a few weeks ago that he would never accept any post in future. Mann’s lieutenants have repeatedly pointed out that Tohra had violated his solemn pledge by accepting the post.

This campaign was further strengthened with five human rights activists Ajit Singh Bains, Inderjit Singh Jaijee, Major General Narinder Singh, Ashok Singh and Harpal Singh issuing a joint Statement accusing Tohra of “breach of faith”. They said that the plea that the post was thrust upon him also did not absolve him of the responsibility.

They asked him to retire in favor of someone else.
