NEW YORK: Two persons were arrested for allegedly beating up a local employee, working in the passport section of the Indian Consulate here, and roughing up half a dozen other workers, PTI reports.
Of the two arrested in the incident, which occurred on January 8, one has been released on bail. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating the incident.
The alleged assailants were apparently dissatisfied with the service they received in the passport section and were waiting outside the consulate. They pounced upon the local employee, identified as Bala, when he stepped out.
They beat him up and hit him with an umbrella, which broke during the incident. Some outsiders standing alongside the alleged assailants came to the rescue of Bala.
