Sir,
Through your esteemed columns we would like to bring to the notice of the San Francisco Consulate Office, to the general public and our new Ambassador, Mr. Karan Singh, a large racket. We had filed for Agriculture Amnesty and instructed by the Immigration Authorities to produce our Indian passport. Since we were illegal Aliens before then we had applied for fresh passports in the S.F, Consulate in Sept 88 and March 89, pending our enquiry from India, which never comes back on time. In the meantime were approached by one Saighal an official at the Consulate that passports can be delivered to us for a sum of $500.00 each, which we agreed upon, but unfortunately it was a set up for us we paid Mr. Saighal $2000.00 and received no passport there is no word on our case by the authorities. Efforts to meet Mr. Rana the CGI were ignored. We agree that we paid the premium as practiced in Indian Offices, but do need our Passports of travel for various emergency reasons. We urge the new Ambassador Karan Singh to intervene and help us.
