PANAJE: With a majority of 21 out of 40 seats in the state legislative Assembly after winning the Velim and Curtorim seats, the Congress (I) was hopeful of forming a new government in Goa in Western India within the next two days, the care-taker Chief Minister, Pratap Singh Rane said, PTI reports.
NEW DELHI: The curtain went up on the 21st International Festival with renowned director Satyajit Ray lighting the ceremonial lamp at the open air Ravindra Theater here on Wednesday evening.
Watched by a galaxy of distinguished film personalities from India and abroad, Ray lit the lamps with the help of actress Debashri Roy and noted dancer-choreographer, Amalashankar to thunderous applause that warmed the misty January evening, sparking hopes of yet another memorable festival in the next 10 days.
Over 200 films from at least 44 countries will be shown in the 11day festival that returned to Calcutta after eight years.
