WASHINGTON; Guru Nanak Foundation of America of the Washington Metropolitan Arca held their Annual Gurbani Rehras Sahib Recital Competition at the Gurdwara Sahib on Jan.81994. It was a great success under the management of Guru Nanak Foundation of America. A total of 12 judges listened to the selected pauris form the Rehras Sahib and judged the 44 participants by their style pronunciation and demonization.
Group One: Ages 5-7 years of age (Anand Sahib 6 pauris as in the Rehras Sahib) First Place Winner Avnet Singh. Second Place Winner Simranjit Singh Bawa. Third Place Winner Bishan Jeet Singh Group Two: Ages 8-11 years of age (Kabyo Beach Benti Chaupi) First Place Winner Gurvinder Kaur. Second Place Winners Navreet Kaur & Rayneet Kaur Gulati. Third Place Winner Satnam Singh Manku.
Group Three: Ages 12-15 years of age(Rehras Sahib from Sodar Raag Assa Mahala i through Salok Mahala 5 Bhai Prapat Manukh Dehuria) First Place Winner Jiwanjot Kaur Tulsi.
Second Place Winner Navreet Kaur Dhariwal. Third Place Winner Joganjeet Kaur Dhariwal.
Group Four: Ages 16-21 (Whole Rehras Sahib from Sodar Raag Assa.
Mahala I thru Salok Mahal 5 Tera Kita Jato Naahi including Anand Sahib and Chaupai).
First Place Winner Amarjeet Kaur Manku.
Second Place Winner – Amardeep Singh Matta
Third Place Winner Aman Kaur.
After the competition the youth from the competition performed kirtan the sampan and langar was served.
