The long-awaited package arrived on New Year’s Day bringing a book and as mile for Mandeep Raj pal of Madera.
Mandeep an eighth-grade student at St. Joachim’s Catholic School wasn’t the only one who ‘was delighted to open the package and find her name in print her family was equally as excited.
Man deep’s story A Dream Is a Wish Your He an Makes was awarded second place in a national youth writing contest last year selected from more than 6000 entries.
The story appears in the January 1994 edition of Young Authors of America a collection of 25 essays and poems written by elementary students and published by the Trumpet Club
it Was a big occasion for all of us said Man deep’s father Dr.Ranjit Singh Rajpal.
In humorous and creative style A Dream Is a Wish Your Hearn Makes focuses on Mandeep traveling back in time ta 1964 where she meets a young boy who will later become her teacher in 1993 It had a meaning said Detjen IL was a very well-written story. i thought it would do really well. To have it come in second place was more than I even expected.
For Dr.Rajpal and his wife Harjot Kaur Rajpal encouraging their children to excel in school is something they always make time for.
It’s very important that each parent tries to become an example for their children Rajpal said. You have to show them what they can achieve
Although Mandeep hopes to one day become an orthodontist she hopes to continue writing as a hobby.
