As the year 1991 draws to a close, I find that nothing unites us more than the love of our religion nothing divides us more than the practice of it. The ability and the right to disagree are sacred; they are the lifeblood that nurtures our spirited people. I celebrate those rights while I wish that we could be less disagreeable about our disagreements The coming year (1992) marks a watershed in our historic struggle to define our identity our aspirations and our goals s0 that we can take our place alongside the other free people of the world. No matter what the provocation or how tempting the alternative we must always remember that only those goals are worth the struggle and only those methods deserve our attention which is consistent with the teachings of Sikhism. The World Sikh News not only chronicles our many and varied efforts but also helps to knit the far flung comers of our community into a powerful and rich mosaic. We know that we have needed the World Sikh News for the past seven years; in the year to come we are going to need it even more. That we will succeed is beyond question.
