HYDERABAD: Rightwing Bhartiya Janata Party leader Lal Krishan Advani Friday said the Congress-I poll theme of providing stability would de anon-starter since the party was not in a position to fight the forthcoming elections on its own.
Speaking to reporters before explaining for Delhi Advani who had an overnight halt in the city after a four-day tour of Kamataka said it is surprising that Congress-I which hitherto used to contest all seats on its own was now having seat adjustments with JD (S) chief ministers Mulayam Singh in Uttar Pradestrand Chimanbhai Patel in Gujarat.
The Congress-I claim of stability till now was based on its ability to contest all seats something which it cannot claim this time he said.
The BJP leader said the electoral debate this time would he focused on the definition of secularism with the Kashmir issue and the communal dispute over a piece of land in Ayodhya claimed by both Hindus and Muslims.
Advani said his party’s manifesto was on the anvil and that it would be released in April.
He said the manifesto would outline the party’s views on all facets of national policy making it a truly comprehensive document on social economic and political action.
