NEW DELHI-As Congress-I continued to dictate terms to the govt on Monday demanding a present day vote on account instead of a full scale budget the Janata Dal-S leaders waited anxiously for the prime minister to return to the capital to discuss the fate of their minority govt in the face of the sustained onslaught by their allies.
Party sources said they would hold a late night war council at the PM’s residence on Tuesday to assess the situation which was growing more humiliating each day. The mood in the core group of Shekhar’s supporters was militant with many of them urging Shekhar to serve an ultimatum to the Congress to let the govt function or else face midterm elections.
The next couple of days will witness hectic political activity as the JDS gears up for the fourth coming SESSION.
