LUDHIANA: Congress (I) and BJ.P. Who outwardly are daggers drawn have joined hands to run the affairs of the local municipal corporation.
The Congress (I) group in the corporation supported the B.J.P. candidate Mr Sat Prakash
Chaudhry for the post of mayor while the latter reciprocated by electing Congress (I)’s Surjit Singh Ahluwalia and Prem Mittal for the posts of senior deputy members belonging to Akali Dal (Mann) Akali Dal (Master) the B.S.P. and a few Independents.
In the bitterly contested elections to the 50-member corporation the Congress (I) had won 13 seats while the B.J.P. had won 17 seats.
