Sardar Ujjal Singh Dhatt, president of Gurdwara Sahib Stockton, died in a tractor accident on his ranch in Chowchilla Tuesday, July 4, 1995.
Sardar Dhatt was born Feb. 20, 1932 in Roopal Dist, Hoshiapur India. He attended the State College of Hoshlapur and joined the India Air Force in 1952. Top in his lass, he was sent to the Defense Services Staff College in Andover, U.K. He was rated the highest qualified flying instructor and served as Chief of Staff at the Staff College of Wellington, in India. One of the most highly decorated in the L.A. he left in 1974.
He immigrated to the U.S. in May 1983, came to the San Joaquin Valley where he started a used car business, Big & Littlie Used Cars, and subsequently many other endeavors.
The family most recently bought the Chowchilla ranch, the site of the most unfortunate accident, Sardar Dhatt had been active in his community and for the last 5 1/2 years served as the President of the Stockton Gurdwara.
He leaves his most loving wife, Sardamni Ji Paramjit Kaur, a brother, Harsharan Singh Dhatt; two sisters, Gurdip Kaur & Charanjit Kaur, two sons, Ravdeep Singh Dhatt, and Gurpreet Singh Dhatt and Five grandchildren.
Funeral will be Saturday, July 8th at Lodi Memorial Cemetery, Lodi, CA, 5740 East Pine.
