NEW DELHI: The weapons oriented nuclear programme of Pakistan is causing deep concern to India and the security situation of the country is constantly under review particularly in the light of the developments having a bearing on India’s security.

India has conveyed to the United States its serious concern over the supply of sophisticated weapons to Pakistan beyond that country’s legitimate defense requirements, foreign minister I.K. Gujral.

Gujral said the United States had committed 589.7 million dollar assistance to Pakistan for 1989-90.

This included the foreign military sales (FMS) component of 230 million dollars, he added.
