BRAMPTON: Inderjit Singh Bal, Amarjit Sidhu, Sarabjit(SHAN) Padda, Kashmir Singh and Sukhmandir Singh Hansara (host of Ankhela Punjab Radio & TV Show) along with others were honored with the Commemorative Medals for the 125th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation.
On behalf of his Excellency the Right Honorable Ramon John Hnatyshyn, the Governor General of Canada, this medal was presented to the recipients by Sergio Marchi, M.P., York West, Chair National Liberal Caucus, during the Annual New Citizens night.
The citation in respect of the medal released, by the Governor General’s office reads that “This special Medal is conferred upon the recipients in recognition of significant contribution to Canada, to their Community and their fellow Canadians, the decoration is a reminder of the values of service, Individual respect, and Community effort on which Canada was built and which its equality of life will always depend.”
Speaking at the occasion Marchi, said “I believe that honoring our Community’s model citizens will set an excellent precedent for our new citizens.”
The other guests present at the occasion were, the Chief inspector of police, Justice of Peace, School board trustee, city and metro councilors. S.Gurpreet Singh Bal accepted the award on behalf of S.Hansara. Congratulating all the recipients Mr.Bal said it is a matter of great pride for our community and the Organization (WSQ) that these leading Community Workers are honored by such an prestigious award.
