YUBA CITY, Ca.: The annual Sri Guru Granth Sahib Coronation Parade (Gur Gaddi Divas) was held here on November 1, 1987, It was the eighth annual parade which has come to be celebrated in North America with the same grandeur and glory as vaisakhi is celebrated in Punjab, Colorful procession with tastefully decorated floats depicted the Sikh culture and history, The Sikh Temple Sacramento float was bedecked like a bride and Stockton sangat carried enlarged pictures of a youth tortured and killed in fake police encounter in Punjab.

Sikhshad come in large number from all over America, Canada and England, Yuba city looked like a slice of vibrating Punjab transported to California as if by magic. The persecution and suppression of Sikhs in Punjab found expression in the ringing slogans of Khalistan, Each Sikh looked determined, almost possessed with only one aim to somehow achieve freedom for Sikhs in India which can be ensured only by establishing a sovereign country called Khalistan,

Kirtan Jathas were continuously reciting Shabads and there was perfect discipline among the participants.
