SOCKTON,CA: This Punjabi game of speed and strength was exhibited in two northern California cities this past weekend as teams from the USA Canada England and India competed for the kabbadi Cup of the U.S.A. ‘Hundreds of avid supporters came to cheer their favorite players of this traditional Punjabi contest.
Following league rules the teams each played three matches with ‘the overall winner being the experienced India team. The second place cup was won by the Canadian team with the host team showing a fantastic effort despite their youth and relative inexperience only recently formed the USA team with just three weeks of intensive Practice at the Livingston CA kabbadi camp gave their coach and supporters reason to be proud. They piling to Practice hard this year and are committed to winning & cup at next year’s event.
Most of the matches hid relatively close scores which showed that even the newest teams were not push-overs for the more experienced Visitors.
The Selma matches were scored as follows India 46 Canada 39 England 61 USA 49. Canada 52 England 47 India 57 USA 37 and in the final two matches Canada over USA by 15 and India over England by 17.
The three Selma matches had India over USA Canada over UK and India over Canada kabbadi known as the oldest game in Punjab and West Pakistan hopes to see a growing enthusiasm amongst the None American youth Next year the North American kabbadi association hopes to see.
