ISLAMABAD: China has agreed to provide a 300,000 kw nuclear power plant to Pakistan, which is saddled with an energy crisis.

An agreement to this effect was signed by Prime Minister Bhutto and visiting Chinese premier Li Peng here.

Disclosing this at a press conference, Peng said this project would be in accordance with an earlier accord signed between the two countries for peaceful use of nuclear energy.

He said since both Pakistan and China were members of the international atomic energy agency (IAEA), the project would be undertaken within the stipulated IAEA safeguards.
