CHICAGO,IL: John H.Chung, Chairperson of the Asian American Coalition of Chicago 10th Anniversary Lunar New Year Celebration, announced that the coalition will sponsor its 1993 gala on Feb. 13, in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency O’Hare at 9300 W.Bryn Mawr Avenue in Rosemont, Illinois from 6 pm to 12 am.

Association of Chicago. Traditionally, Lunar New Year is the Single largest organized annual event in Chicago’s Asian American community, which numbers over 300,000. Over 1.000 people are expected to attend.

“The Korean American Community is delighted to host this important celebration. We appreciate the opportunity to work with the leaders of the Chicago Asian American Community,” said Chung. “A Decade of Progress Making our Voices Heard,’ the theme of this year’s event, underscores our efforts of working together towards common goals,” he added.

Lunar New Year 4691 marks the Year of the Rooster. The evening will highlight a keynote address given by U.S. Representative Jay Kim, the first Congressman of Korean Ameriican descent, along with a community service awards ceremony, cultural performances, including a Punjabi folk song and dance item of Technocrat, a comedy act by Henry Cho, and dancing to the music.
