CHICAGO, IL: Rashid A. Chaudry chairman of the 9th annual Asian American coalition of Chicago Lunar New Year’s celebrations announced that the coalition will sponsor its 1992 gala on Saturday February 22 in the Chicago ballroom on the 5th floor of the Chicago Marriot Hotel at 540 N. Michigan Ave from 6:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. Over 1000 people are expected to attend including many V.LP.s. Every year a different Asian community takes tums hosting the event and this year it is the Pakistani American community. The host organization is the Pakistani American Public Affairs Committee. Lunar New Year traditionally is the single largest organized annual event in Chicago’s Asian American community which numbers approximately 300000. “The Pakistani American community is pleased to hold this
Prestigious event” said Chaudry “and is excited to be working With the leadership of Chicago’s Asian American community.” Chaudry went on to say “we are pleased to bring to of those who share the Asian American spirit a program that truly exemplifies making visions happen this year’s theme” Lunar year 4690 marks the year of the monkey. The event will highlight an international dress show ethnic dances including Punjabi Bhangra a community services award ceremony and the presentation of the coalition’s first pan Asian award The tickets are $40 per person or $400 per table of 10.
