NEW DELHI: Indian intelligence agencies investigating the Rajiv Gandhi murder case are reported to be looking into the possible involvement of politicians belonging to former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar’s camp.

Certain clues obtained by the agencies are leading them to the need to interrogate former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala. The letter is at present not in India.

It is recalled by agencies that the former Prime Minister had himself suspected weeks prior to his assassination that certain Haryana policemen had been put on a surveillance job around his Delhi residence indicating that Chautala had managed the secret deployment of the police personnel. It was this incident that had finally led to the withdrawal of Congress (I) support to Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar.

According to reliable sources an important intelligence discovery is that Chautala was in Madras a day prior to Gandhi’s assassination. This development has further strengthened the intelligence agencies suspicion.

The agencies are also reported to be planning to interrogate a tantric close to Chandra Shekhar who too now is not available in the country. That tantric is also said to be a guru of Prime Minister Narasimha Rao.

Gandhi’s widow Sonia Gandhi it is understood wants the intelligence agencies to look into these leads.
