PANCHKULA: The Haryana Chief Minister, Bhajan Lal, Dec.7 joined issue with his Punjab counterpart, Beant Singh, when the former publicly declared that there was no question of Chandigarh’s transfer to Punjab without simultaneous transfer of Abohar Fazilka to Haryana.
Bhajan Lal was speaking at a function here after inaugurating Red Bishop a Haryana Tourist complex and the Institute of Health, and Family Welfare. He was obviously reacting to Beant Singh’s statement published in newspapers Tuesday that Chandigarh would be transferred soon to Punjab without any Punjab territory going to Haryana. Bhajan Lal, who usually praises Beant Singh in his speeches, now sounded Burt over the Punjab Chief Ministers claim, They Haryana Chief Minister deviated from his official address to reply to Beant Singh’s statement. He said: “Beant Singh bhi kaan khol kar sun lein (Beant Singh should understand it clearly) that Chandigarh would be transferred only as part of package decided at the negotiating table.”
