CHANDIGARH, India: The local units of various political parties have demanded setting up of police and paramilitary force in all thickly populated areas of the union territory. In a memorandum submitted to the Administrator Chandigarh, Mr, SS. Ray, the political parties also demanded reconstitution of the local advisory committee and ‘guards for all political leaders for their protection, The memorandum was submitted by a deputation comprising Lok Nath Sharma, and Jarnail Singh, Congress (I), Joginder Singh Sawhney and Amarjit Singh Sangha, Akali Dal (L), Rajinder Kumar Mahajan and Dev Nath, BJP. M.L. Kohli, Ravi Parkash, Janata, Devi Dyal Sharma CPI. Bhag Singh and Inderjit Singh C P M . Mr. Ray assured the deputations that he will look into the demands contained in the memorandum, He further said that he will hold meetings with various political parties and will discuss the problems of the union territory.
