NEW DELHI: The Himalayan slate of Sikkim appears to be heading for Presidents rule even as the governor Admiral (Retd) R.H.Tahiliani apprised the home minister S.B.Chavan of the political situation in the state after the resignation of 17 legislators from the 32-member assembly highly-placed political sources said here June 20.
The Congress however did not make any commitment either way on the move by both factions of the SSP led by Limboo and Nar Bahadur Bhandari to forge an alliance of merge with it.
The strength of the SSP(S) ministry was reduced to 14 after the three ruling party members including two ministers resigned 12 legislators of the opposition SSP (Bhadani faction) and two of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) resigned en bloc last Friday.
