NEW DELHE: The Government has decided to ban the flying of radio controlled planes in all the metro Politian cities following the Reported sighting of one such micro light aircraft above the residence of the Tamil Nadu Chief ‘Minister, J Jayalalitha, in Madras early on May 3.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting of officials of security agencies which reviewed the arrangements for Ms.Jayalalitha. The Prime Minister, P.V Narasimha Rao, directed the officials to review the arrangements after he received a representation from the ALADMK.

The AIADMK leaders, during a meeting with the Prime Minister on Monday night, apprised him of the latest episode and urged the Center lighten security, including provision of aerial cover, for Jayalalitha.

The meeting also decided to ex tend appropriate aerial cover for the residence of Jayalalitha fol lowing fears that the LTTE could mount a human bomb attack on a Micro light aircraft or use an explosives laden remote controlled glider to fire bombs, Guidelines are being sent to the Tamil Nadu Government,

Sources said that micro light air craft were not manufactured in the country. The micro light aircraft controlled by radio frequency from ground have arrange of four to five kms and can attain a height of 3,000 feet.
