NEW DELHI (PTI): Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) teams June 29 raided Vishva Hindu Parshad, (VHP) and Right Wing Opposition Party, Bharitiya Janata Party (BJP) offices in Ayodhya and Faizabad and arrested a leading functionary of the VHP, the Bajrang Dal (Pro Hindu Organization) chief, Vinay Katiyar, said here.
Katiyar, who represents Faizabad constituency in Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament), told reporters here that the Central Secretary of the Ram Janmabhoomi Mukti Yagna Samiti, Mahesh Narayan Singh, was picked up from his office-cum-residence in Ayodhya by CBI sleuths and accompanying policemen early Tuesday morning. Singh’s residence also housed the office of the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas (Trust), he added,
Katiyar said CBI teams also raided the residence Of the Faizabad district president of the BJP, LallooSingh, and took away some files. ‘The raids at both the places, which started around 0700 hours, continued for about four hours, he said.
Condemning the raids, Katiyar and the VHP joint general secretary, Acharya Giriraj Kishhore, said the raids were aimed at “terrorizing™ the RSSVHPBJP workers and demanded their immediate stoppage.
