JAMMU: A high powered team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrived, to investigate the bomb blasts at the Republic Day function in which the state Governor, General K.V. Krishna Rao (retd), escaped while eight persons were killed and 2 others were injured. The car is headed by the special director of the CBI, Arun Bhagat.
The team, comprises senior officers and explosive experts, would investigate the bid to assassinate the governor and other top civil and military officers.
The team met senior police and security officials to find out the details. Besides, investigating the modus operandi of the assassins, the team would also look into the alleged connivance of the officers.
Colonel Sundram, a top explosive experts of the Intelligence Bureau, ruled out the possibility of the use of RDX in the blasts. He has also ruled out the use of remote control for triggering the blasts.
The CBI cam has started it’s probe on the theory, based on the preliminary investigations, that someone from the administration was involved in the conspiracy
However, the experts were of the view that the neat job” done was not the handiwork of ordinary militants, but an explosive expert who must have come from elsewhere.
The CBI cam will cross-examine the officials responsible for the security at the function. It is expected to give it’s interim report, to the state government, within a month.
