ISLAMABAD (PTI): Pakistan’s Caretaker premier Moeen Qureshi has ruled out a solution to the Kashmir issue on the lines of Pro-Israel accord and said that any move at Variance with the United Nations resolution was “totally unacceptable,” reports say on Sept.19. “We want better relations with India but how is it possible when it grossly violates human rights in occupied Kashmir and is unwilling to enter into any meaningful and productive dialogue despite overtures from our side,” Qureshi said at the Prime Minister’s house on Sept.18. Maintaining that Pakistan’s foreign policy should serve as a Shield for its security, he said Islamabad was prepared to take all steps to reduce tension and to resolve conflicts in the area. “Ours is a middle sized country and we support nonproliferation and disarmament,”
During his two hour long meeting with the newspaper editors, Qureshi said he expected the new elected government to assume office by Oct.14. Declaring that his key priority was to hold elections to national and the four provincial assemblies on Oct.6 & 9, he said “it will take about one week before the session of the national assembly is convened. It is expected that the new government will be installed by Oct.14.”
Expressing optimism that the country would get a strong government in the wake of the national polls, he said “in the past we had politically insecure governments and as its result they had not been as strong.”
