Dear Editor

I read the letter in the last issue of World Sikh News by Dr Gurcharan Singh Dhillon entitled Fazio-Honest Legislator/Caring Friend As you are aware I have had the good fortune of knowing Dr. Dhillon for the past many years. I have known him to be a perfect gentleman therefore find his remarks in reference to Dr.Aulukh rather surprising and quite frankly unbecoming of a gentlemen and a Gursikh such as himself It seems to have become a fashion that we seem to go for the jugular of each other whether there are merits in what we are saying or not. It seems we have three basic points we seem to use to launch personal attacks on each other.

 (1) He is in it for the money. (Paise Lay kar da) (2) He is hungry for glory or power (Choder Da Bhukah) and when they don’t work we launch in for the kill by saying he is a government spy (Gorment Da Banda).

Well Dr.Dhillon has fired the first of the two already at Dr.Aulukh J wonder when the third one is coming. I find it amusing too that Dr.Dhillon writes that Dr.Auluck is doing this for personal gain what personal gain? What mansion docs Dr.Dhillon thinks Dr. Auluck lives in or which fancy car does he thinks he drives? It is also as ridiculous to suggest he is doing it for political gain what political gain is he running for public office or seeking a government post? I think not they are unfounded statements that are not very becoming of one gentleman for another.

I believe that we all do not have agree with each other on all issues all the time but that is good for out of that a true process develops and we need to develop that process But not at the expense of launching personal slander at each other that Serves no purpose. We have all said that the Akalis do not serve the Sikh Community because they are too busy mudslinging a teach other Then in the same breath we agree that it is because they lack the professional education. Then are we any different? Should we not be different? Should we not lead the way to improve the process? I think the answer is obvious. So let’s cut the idle word mongering and debate the issues as ladies and gentlemen and Sikhs of our guru | would like to discuss the Vic Fazio issue though   in no way doubt Vic Fazios integrity or whether he is a friend of the Sikhs or not

I do however have some issues with Fazio and questions which I think need to be asked of Mr .Fazio. Not only does Fazio have the largest community of Sikhs in his constituency but also he has sonic of the strongest Khalistan proponents in that constituency Therefore I  find it alarming to hear Sharon Singh Mr. Fazios aid make a statement in a room of about 50 people at the Fremont Gurdwara Sahib that their dais shows that the Sikhs in Mr Fazios Constituency are not for Khalistan Can this really be true Dr Dhillon? Or is the message to Fazio not being made clear that it is Khalistan that we want and that he needs to support that. He is a politician and a politicians diet never changes It’s the same at all limes every Iwo years he needs to be fed votes and Fazio understands tis also. Send him a message loud and clear that he needs to support the Khalistan issue and join the bipartisan coalition Sure he wrote an individual letter but that has very little merit. It is the bipartisan block of Congressmen that the president is going to respond to. He knows that he can  it afford to have block of bipartisan congressmen un responded to for that block can become a strong opposition on a tight vote be it defense health plan etc. So why 15 Fazio not joining the others What is the hesitation is he truly speaking the voice of the Sikh majority of his constituency? I am sure that Fazio is a friend of the Sikhs. Nobody is lying to exclude him but would rather like him as the senior member of Congress and also as the member with the largest Sikh Community to lead the way. Balbir Singh Ragi Union City. CA

Dear Editor

Mr. Gurcharan Singh Dhillons letter dated March 4,1984 is very confusing contradictory and opportunistic at the same time  don’t see any wrong done to Congressman Vic Fazio if his constituents write to him asking for his support for the cause of Khalistan. On the other hand Mr. Burton Mr. Condit and other Congressmen have supported our cause in letter and spirit. Burtons amendment to Aid Bill is instrumental i in reducing aid to India. It is not fair for Mr. Dhillon to minimize Mr. Burtons role Mr. Dhillon Should learn to say thank you to the friends of the Sikh nation. Dr.Gurmit Singh Aulakh President of Council of Khalistan in Washington D.C. has worked in the past with both Republicans and Democrats. He has the ability and good will to seek their support for our struggle for freedom. His financial and political benefits are for the glory of Khalsa Panth. When would WSO Iearnt to uphold the culture of Sikh unity? When would they abandon their anti-Khalistan stance?
