NEW DELHI: Gounder who achieved fame by contesting as an Independent candidate against the top brass of Indian politics has accused the Punjab police of kidnapping him to stop him from filling his nomination from the Patiala Lok Sabha constituency.
Gounder who has contested against Indira Gandhi Rajiv Gandhi M.G-Ramachandran and Jayalalitha lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against the Patiala police.
In his complaint Gounder alleged that when he went to the office of the returning officer in Patiala on February lo file this nominations policemen asked him to follow them telling him that he had been provided security cover. But they took him to a dilapidated building on the outskirts of the town and confined him there along with three other prospective candidates for several hours and released them only after the nominations closed the claimed.
Gounder demanded disciplinary action against the Superintendent of Police Patiala in this connection
Gounder’s attempt to file nominations against Prime P.V.Narasimha Rao from Nandyal Lok Sabha constituency late last year was reportedly foiled in a similar fashion.
