VANCOUVER: The birthday of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji the 1Oth and the last Guru of the Sikhs was celebrated with great devotion and piety at Gurdwara Khalsa Diwan Society Ross Street Vancouver on Jan.10-1292 Addressing the house full Sunday gathering Bhai Avtar Singh Sandhu General Secretary explained that Guru Gobind Singh” was a rare combination of so many qualities and fought against oppression and tyranny of the then rulers and in the process sacrificed his all. Speaking on the occasion Bhai Kundan Singh Sajjan president emphasized that Guru Gobind Singhs ideal of love oneness of human race and service to mankind can bring peace and prosperity to the whole world. Earlier on Saturday evening an impressive Kavi Darbar was held in the Gurdwara in the sacred memory of Guru Gobind Singh who himself was a poet par excellence and kept at least 52-most outstanding poets in his court. Bhai Avaar Singh Sandhu briefly explained the significance of Kavi Darbay and handed over the charge to Bhai Surinder Singh Jabal who acting as the stage secretary started the Kavi Darbar. Master Sewa Singh Dhatt Banta Singh Sabharwal Surinder Singh Jabal Principal Gian Singh Koili Surjt Singh Madhopuri Gurinder SinghPadda Komal Singh Komal Dhadi Aviar Singh Sadhar Jit Singh Sanghera Bachittar Singh and Mukhtiar Singh Gill took part in the Kavi Darbar and kept the congregation spell bound till the last. To all intents and purposes the Kavi Darbar was a great success.
